10 Most Overlooked Candies

I’m here to tell you about 10 of the great, but ridiculously uncelebrated, unrated sweets that Candy Hero has to offer.

When you think of candy what is the first thing that springs to mind? Is it the iconic gold and orange of Reese’s cups? The brown writing on a Hershey's bar? Is it even the Goonies shouting "Baby Ruth"? There are the sweets that everyone has heard of, but there are some that simply get overlooked.

10: Fazer Blue Milk Chocolate

Fazer Blue Milk Chocolate

Usually when people are looking for their chocolate fix they’ll head straight to the American Hershey’s selection, but this Finnish chocolate really gives the American brand a run for its money. Fazer milk chocolate may be one of the best and most high-quality chocolatey bars that Candy Hero has to offer. The bars come in many flavours from salted cashew nut to chilli flavoured, but nothing really beats the original ‘blue’ bar.

9: Mike and Ike

Mike and Ike Original Fruits

Sometimes it seems that Mike and Ike are overlooked because people don’t really know what they are, and to be honest I still struggle to describe them to people. They’re small, chewy sweets similar to a jelly bean but not quite (not selling these very well am I?). Candy Hero stocks these in no less than 15 flavours and trust me, you will not be disappointed.

8: Tyrkisk Peber

Tyrkisk Peber

These are one of the signature candies of Finland, but the flame adorned packet sometimes puts people off trying them. These sweets are known for their salty and fiery taste and are the Finnish equivalent of Marmite, you either love them or you hate them, but you'll never know until you try them!

7: Sour Skittles

Sour Skittles

It may be surprising to some people that these are on the list, but please hear me out. Skittles are a brand that everyone has heard of but one of the things I hear the most in the Candy Hero store is: ‘Skittles, we have them in the UK, these can’t be that much different’. Although these may look the same as their British counter parts, the American Skittles pack so much more of a punch. The Sour coating on these Skittles make them worthy of a place on this list.

6: Club-Mate Cola

ClubMate Cola

All the caffeine of an energy drink without the overly sugary taste. Club-Mate Cola really goes to town in the energy department without comprimising on the great taste of an old style cola. This is a good option for anyone looking for a pick me up, without going down the usual energy drink route.

5: Passiona

Passiona

This Australian drink is perfect to enjoy in the summer, it’s refreshing with a real passionfruit flavour. For the best results pour this classic Australian beverage over ice and enjoy in the garden with the sun shining and a BBQ on the way.

4: Herr’s Cheese Curls

Herr's Cheese Curls

Crunchy, cheesy and light, Cheese Curls are deceptively moreish. They are the perfect accompaniment to any lunchbox and as they’re baked you can convince yourself that they’re healthy (that works… right?).

3: Snyder’s Hot Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces

Snyder's Hot Buffalo Wing

These are a staff favourite here at Candy Hero, the tangy pieces of pretzel really add some excitement to snack time. Snyder’s Hot Buffalo Wing Pretzel Pieces are spicy, crispy and very different to anything we have here in the UK.

2: Cow Tales

Mini Cow Tales

These long, thin bars seriously remind me of a hot fudge sundae, the soft caramel with a vanilla cream core make it truly irresistible. At 50p each or a whole box of miniatures for £1.80, Cow Tales are delicious, affordable and almost worthy of the top spot on this list...almost.

1: Take 5

Take 5

This is seriously everything you could ever want in a chocolate bar. It has: peanut butter, chocolate, pretzel, caramel and whole peanuts...need I say more? My absolute favourite - the number 1 most unrated candy of all time!
